View Full Version : WorldPay Compliance Document

I really hope someone can help! WorldPay will not approve my account with them unless I send them a "Compliance Document" which is signed and stamped by my bank, to verify my identity.
I have gone into my branch 3 times now (with all my identification etc) and they refuse to stamp the document which means I can't get my WorldPay account and therefore cannot trade!
Has anyone experienced this problem? I could go with Protx instead of WorldPay but it will take another 2-3 weeks to set up and xmas is around the corner. I am at a total loss as to what to do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ricky,

Why have they refused to stamp the document?

Hi Ricky,

Never heard of a bank refusing to stamp a compliance document before, unless of course its Abbey you bank with and they're probably waiting for their new rubber stamps to arrive from Spain... along with their new Spanish computer system that really does work honest, staff that know what a business is etc :D

Sorry to ask the obvious but it is a business bank account you are using?

Hi there

Thanks for the replies. For some reason, they think things will come back to the branch and they don't want the reponsibility. I even phoned HSBC business banking to complain and they could not understand why they would not stamp the document either.
When I told the branch this, they just said it is a branch decision.
They didn't actually give a proper reason but said they are not allowed to stamp for verification anymore.

Yes I do have a business bank account, I have shown all my documents, identification etc. and I have funded the set up of the business all myself.
I showed payslips to the branch to prove that I am still earning money etc so it is not as if I am asking the branch to loan me money or anything.

I am not really sure what to do now. I am doing everything above board right from that start but I have still hit a brick wall it seems.

Try another branch???

Hmm

WorldPay have insisted that the stamp bears the logo and the sort code of the branch where the business account exists.
Hopefully I will somehow get this sorted soon.

Thanks

I would go back to your branch and politely tell them that unless they do what you want that you will close your account and go with another bank. We bank with HSBC and at branch level they are not very good.
Do you have a business account manager that you can talk to?

Hi,

Yes I will take that stance when I go into the branch tomorrow. I have a business account manager who I have spoken to on the phone who works in another HSBC branch and he doesn't seem to think stamping the document will be a problem. Let's see!
I actually spoke with WorldPay this lunchtime and they said HSBC are the only bank who are awkward in terms of this, so I obviously am not the only one having this problem.

I will definitely close the account down if I don't get it done.

Thanks for the reply.

Kind Regards

It could be something as petty as Worldpay belonging to the Royal Bank of Scotland group and HSBC have their own merchant processing service... give 'em hell :D

Yes I will do.

I can't trade unless I get this done!

Hope you got this sorted? I'm with Worldpay and I didn't even use my own branch at the time to get the compliance doc sorted as my business account is with the Natwest Business banking team which is all phone and online support and based in Essex and I'm based in the midlands, and I didn't experience any probs thank goodness - then again Worldpay & Natwest are part of the same group, so I would have kicked up a fuss if they had!

I would demand to see the Manager of the branch, if necessary ask them to call Worldpay customer services whilst you're in the branch to talk through their concerns directly. I don't see how they can make a 'branch' decision that contradicts the main banks policy...sounds like you need to ditch them anyway, as this good be the beginning of a very traumatic relationship.

Hi there

Thanks for the message, yes I did eventually get it sorted. I had to speak to the person who actually set up my account (and it was not easy getting hold of him direct!)
I first called HSBC telephone banking and complained about the service I was receiving and informed them that unless my branch stamp and sign the document I might as well close the account down because no money would ever be going in there.
Eventually I went into the branch to get it stamped but suffice to say, if I had more time, I would definitely be switching banks! I am not impressed with HSBC at all.

1 hour! Natwest answer in seconds...

Did they give you a reason for not stamping it?

Just said it's something they can't do.
But they said WorldPay can make a Status Request (not sure what that is) to the bank.

I've sent an e-mail to WP, will wait to see what they say.

Odd HSBC are usually exceptionally helpful with us, could just be the Blackpool guys that are decent, who knows!

I know there are differences between what the people on the phone say and what the branch do. Sometimes you need to get the people on the phone to contact the branch manager and tell them they need to do the job!

But if the telephone banking people say it can be done there shouldn’t be any reason why it can't be done. Stand in the branch until the branch manager comes out and sorts the issue out.

Natwest took seconds with mine they just took it into the office verified my ID and the business bank account details and that was that. HSBC are taking the p**s mate there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be able to do the same. I'd be changing banks!

Its mighty odd, i will ask our local hsbc next time I’m in and see what response i get. Could just be lack of information on the branches part.

Forgot to post an update to this...

I successfully got through the WorldPay registration process, no thanks to HSBC.

WorldPay said I could go to any Royal Bank of Scotland or Natwest branch with photo I.D. and have it copied and stamped.

Success!
Went to the local RBS branch and had it sorted within 5 minutes :D

I'm very dissapointed with HSBC.
