hi all

Ive seen sites that have 10,000 backlinks from yahoo

Fair enough i could goto each site and ask to have a link exchange but is there a easier way than contacting 100000 webpages

Even a 1000 would be a start?

Many Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

Yep some sites have have millions of links, like the big finance sites. They will buy links from the huge link sellers who have many sites signed up who are looking to get a bit more money by having others backlinks on their sites.

I recommend that you look for related sites and write them a personalised email asking for a link sometimes you get lucky and get it free and sometime they may ask for a small payment. You could also try searching for blogs in your subject area and email the webmasters and offer them free content for their site which contains a backlink to your site. You may also try article submission.

My advice is to build your backlinks naturally, do not suddenly go and get 1,000 links as it look unnatural to the search engines. Look for related sites and also make sure you get deep links to internal pages and remember to use relevant anchor text in the links.

One final tip is to use social bookmarking sites as these will give you a backlink and currently these are quite powerful backlinks in Google.

Good luck.

What ones do you recommend?

I recommend the established social bookmarking sites which do not have nofollow such as stumbleupon, nowpublic, blinklist etc...

Have a look at where you are in Google at the moment and bookmark the page in a few social bookmarking sites with relevant tags and then have a look where you are for that phrase in a week. I bet you will have gone up in the index. ;)

Also, do bear in mind that reciprocal (i.e. two-way) links are greatly devalued by the search engines. The key is to make the link appear "natural". The best links are: one-way links, that don't appear on every page of a site, and don't appear in the "sponsored links" section (or similar).

Another way to get incoming links is by article marketing - basically posting related articles on relevant websites (ezinearticles.com and the like).
