There are numerous companies that offer pay per click advertising programs, and each of their terms and conditions are slightly different. For example, some of them allow you to write just about anything you want in your actual ads, while others are very strict about ad content. In addition, some pay per click advertising programs are much more successful than others. Before signing up with any of them, you should do some research to see which programs have the best reputations for helping website operators turn clicks into sales.
I would just like to add, I have 2 years of experience with pay per click campaigns, have my full adwords accredited status and manage a number of clients UK and internationally. If you need any help drop us an email.
Wishing you all the success in the world,

Hi Row,
I have come across top position a couple of times with clients that have moved to us.
Other than that i will have to agree with Paul, do as much research as possible and choose an agency that will work with you closely to understand you're business and will continue to allow you to have full access to your account.
I would also like to add that I and all our staff members are Google qualified with many years experience between us.
If you would like some help/advice or would like some further info on what i can offer then drop me a line or give me a call.
Best regards

This industry is full of cowboys, as are many other industries.
I agree that doing your research thoroughly before choosing a firm to help you with this is good advice and if you can get a recommendation from someone you trust for a reliable firm, this will greatly reduce risk.
Best Wishes

Not taking anything away from these guys offers at all - as I have seen some good PPC agencies/consultants out there myself, however, in my own experience the true driver of conversion rate is product understanding. With only so few words to convince people to click through product knowledge is key - and agencies will not know as much as you. I worked for some time as a retail consultant and found a number of times that people would say to me that they hired an adwords professional because they didn't have time to do it - for bigger businesses there's merit to this, but when you are just starting out, this should be one of the first things you make sure you do yourself. You can find out most of what you need on forums and via google themselves.
As I say, not taking anything away from you guys who do it professionally, I'm really just pointing out for the smaller businesses that it is possible to manage a successful account yourself.

I'd seriously consider reading up and doing it yourself unless you're really pushed for time. It's an hour a day (max) job for someone if you read up well on SEO forums and get a couple of books. Definitely NOT rocket science. Just make ads very relevant to the landing page and group by keywords (which should appear in the ad).

I agree with that - it's not a black art, just time consuming. It's all about relevance. Also very easy to spend a lot of money on it!
