I read an interesting article in the latest edition of Computing. They outlined news of further developments for Tesco's online store front.
They want to enable user-generated content, and add other services, in an attempt to more closely resemble the community environment of a bricks & mortar supermarket. An interesting development, obviously customers are already able to communicate asynchronously on many other online stores (Amazon, play.com etc) but will it work in this context?
True, it does portray a forward moving/dynamic image of the company which is no doubt important! However, will it help increase the volume of online sales/customer base? I'm not convinved although perhaps that is not their main objective..
