I know there was somethign on here a little while back but can't seem to find the thread I was looking at.
I am using paypal but I am finding loads of shopping carts dumped at checkout and can't help thinkng it is paypal that is putting people off.
So where exactly do I start with accepting credit card payments on my site?
My business account is with hsbcs if that is any help. Waiting for a quote from them at the moment.

My problem has been that customers trying to pay via paypal are having their card blocked if it is linked to their paypal account, paypal will only allow them to use their paypal account to pay, if that makes sense? sometimes the customer doesn't want to use their pp account as the the item is a present and they don't want their oh to know.
I had 3 customers ring me last week with the problem, luckily I take payments by phone too.
I can't wait to get google checkout, I am also looking at worldpay and protx for possible solutions.
That has got to be the main reason for abandoned carts with pp.

If their card is linked to their PayPal account then how is the issue your fault? They can't have it both ways!

Paypal won't let them use their card if they have it registered with a paypal account. I am looking into worldpay.I would prefer protx but I haven't had my business account long enough for them to consider a merchant account, I think! They may say different if I actually ask them though as I am only going on the info on their website.I would still like to offer paypal as an option however so I have been trying to get paypal express working argghh!
I shall start a new thread on that one though I think:)

Paypal won't let them use their card if they have it registered with a paypal account.
That's quite understandable as it's for security. :)
