I am considering Nochex for a couple of uses within my business. Mainly to be able to take deposits and balances on kitchens, but also for a few other smaller sales items.

I've been onto the Nochex website and it looks appealing, however i wanted to contact them to ask a few questions - but there doesnt seem to be a way of contacting them without actually applying.

One of the main Q's was is there any minimum transaction value per month - i.e. do i have to put through at least £x each month in order to have a full account??

And are there any maximum transaction values, as the max with Worldpay was £10k??

Also fees - all it says is "starts at 2.9% plus 20p" - so how do i find out the rest of the fees as thats obviously based on a certain volume!???

Any other advice about using them very welcome!!

Applying doesn't commit you to anything - it means they will phone you to discuss all this.

There is no minimum transaction value per month for the merchant account, although they recommend that below £1000 per month you use their seller account unless you have international customers.

You set the maximum transaction value per card per day. Beware however that the amount they will ask you to hold in reserve in your Nochex account in case of charge backs is based on your max transaction value. When I applied they told me that the reserve had to be double your maximum transaction value. I believe this is negotiable in some cases however.

The fees may well vary dependent on your turnover - it would be worth speaking to them about this, as obviously your transaction value will be much higher than the average ecommerce store.

I would apply if I were you, just so that you can talk through it all with someone.

we looked at nochex and decided against. We already had a personal account for ebay but had not used it for a while.

The website wouldn't allow us to upgrade but sent us in a loop

you are a limited company but you already have an account > go to the upgrade page > no you can't upgrade you need to open an account > no you already have an account >go to the upgrade page

We have up...life's too short...

I have a Nochex and Worldpay account, and I would go with Worldpay over Nochex every time.

Nochex is ok for small transactions, but Worldpay is more trusted and has better customer service.
