We have been working to try & improve our site (AngelGiftCompany) in terms of SEO and some of it seems to have paid off. We are listing on p2 & p3 on Google for some of our keywords. If anyone has any more advice on what we can do to further improve I would be grateful.

The other question is does pagerank affect your ranking on Google (I have read conflicting thoughts on this)?

Thanks in advance

On the page you can:

Wrap your headings in h1 tags
Emphasis your keyphrases in your body copy by bolding text etc.
Modify your page names to reflect the category/products, rather that "viewCategory.aspx?cat=1" for example
Put a keyphrase rich footer at the bottom of each page

In order to reduce code in your pages and therefore increase your keyphrase frequency you can:

Turn off Viewstate when it's not needed
Remove inline styles and put them in your stylesheet
Remove commented out code

The PR you see displayed on the Google Toolbar doesn't really mean anything, but if you really want to focus on it then I suppose it gives you a rough indication that your site is moving in the right direction.

Hi,

Nice site. I think you have dynamic url's better to change these to static url's as search engines follow these better. Also would be good to have product name in the title tag on the product pages.

I dont know much about SEO, ive just been reading a few SEO forums such as seochat.com which has been a big help.

Thanks,

Darrell

If you are wanting to improve pagerank then work on a link building campaign in which one-way links are better for your site. Approach similar sites or sites that are within your target market and ask for a link. Some may want paying some may agree, some may ask for a link back, some may take months to reply.

Link buiding and pagerank are not something that are going to happen overnight.

On an SEO front because my site is no so easy to get at the code (off the shelf site!) then I have tried using header tags in the body html which seems to be working

Hope this helps!
