Hi guys,

Just about to finish getting my new "export website" done...would love to have your feedback on the design. www.mongaglobalexports.com ... There isn't much info on the site yet, as work is still being done..but would love to have some feedback on the design

Great design, I would suggest putting a orange border around the top banner and down the left and right sides which connect at the bottem of the page.
Or you could change the links bit to green. Colour schemes are very effective!

But either way, it is a very good website.

Hi Ash,
Our fellow member, above,, is overly kind.

As an 'export' site you seem to be implying 'wholesale' in which case I don't think 'wishlists' and 'funky pages' are neither required or accepted. The graphic scroll on the wishlist page is badly blurred (on ie6).

The layout though, seems good, but I would see the colours more as a 'retail' than wholesale colour. One may suggest there's no difference, but I think you're in a whole different ball game with export wholesalers who maqy expect a more subtle professional look. I would go with the British red/white and blue, but then that's just me. Products look good though!!

Best wishes and regards,
Nigel

Hi,

Some great feedback there..Thanks very much. Cheers Stephens.

Nigel, I very much agree with most of your points. This does look more like a retail design..however, if we think from another angle, the idea is...we are in the fashion business...which is all about creativity, liveliness and style. I did think about the point you raised, before I decided on the colour scheme, but then the point I made above influenced me more.

Wishlist, Once again, I did think about dropping it, but then I thought, it could be something, which will help bring back interested customers, and convert them into potential sales. A lot of times, wholesalers may come on the site and may like certain products, but may not have the budget (or it may not be their buying season) and hence may not actually make enquiries or purchase. But "wishlist" may actually induce them to buy the stuff at a later date....in any case..as usual your feedback was definately constructive...more ideas would be welcome.

I've been shopping online 7 years and I have yet to use a wish list. What are they for?

Stuff you wish to buy, but do not want to buy at that moment/or cant afford to buy ...can be added in a wishlist...the day you get your salary...you come back..and buy it...

True true.

It's pretty good but I think it seems a bit messy, ecspecially those text links below the main menu.

Hi

The site is pretty straightforward and the navigation is very clear to see and use.
I very much like the top banner but not quite sure of the vibrant colours (lime, purple and orange), especially when used as the section/product links - I think they have been over used and distract from the actual jewellery images (which by the way look very professional and enticing) - you want your products images to claim the top spot for visual impact (whether it's trade or retail viewers).

best of luck!
Joanne

Thanks again

Joanne - Would you recommend taking off the colour boxes on product view and category view pages?

Waiting to more ideas :)

I use the basket for this, providing it isn't one that empties itself after 12 hours.

On Amazon you have the 'Save for Later' button now. You can fill your boots in the online basket and then only choose to pay for the things you really want.

I'm sure I read somewhere that most people don't understand or use wish lists.

Hi,

Its pretty much the same thing, as save for later. There is actually a helpful Wishlist FAQ, which will be up there soon :)

Hi

It's really up to you! but I would perhaps suggest just tone down the colours when used with the product images? The colours in themselves are fine (kind of tutti frutti/funky if that makes sense!!) - I just feel that your potential clients should really be drawn to your products first as these are what you are all about and at the end of the day want to sell!!!

Saying all this ... this is only my opinion (and only one!) and providing you have a good product with excellent product images (which certainly do look good) you are certainly going in the right direction!!!

Bye!
Joanne

Thanks again

Thanks for all the feedback...there are some comments about the colour of top links..any colour recommendations for those text links?

Also, we have added a scrolling latest product bar...it is making the page heavier., on the negative side, but I think looks good? ..what do you think?

I have to agree - that it doesn't really have the "feel" of a wholesale/export/B2B site - it appears more like a site that is trying to sell to consumers.

I know it's still work in progress, but how about providing information such as RRP of each product, or even a little downloadable zip file for each product that has a few hi-res pics and a good description, so that a potential customer can put the product on their Web site with the minimum of effort?
