Hi GNU, to be honest I thought it might give an edge on the OSC software but in reality it seems to be a similar if not the same beast. Having to get to grips with style sheets etc is a pain in the backside.
The only way to get either of these programmes to look different to any others of the same base is to buy a template for them. I don't have the patience to sit around trying to figure out which bits of code to change just to alter a colour. I find the ready made templates are easier but then its getting one that does what you want it to do and also allows the use of Nochex as a checkout.
Most of the decent ones seem to use Paypal as the checkout and there is no way on this earth that I am using Paypal.
I liked the Shopmaker one i had before but the checkout pages were awful. Other than that I can't find a decent all round package anywere.

I design a lot of shops using Zencart. It is a fork of OSCommerce with some nice tweaks and security fixes, but essentially it is the same code base.
Finding a reliable ecommerce system is always a challenge. If your design skills are not up to coding for ZC consider Cubecart which has a very simple templating system. I think it is a commercial cart but the price is affordable

I dont know about Zen cart, but you can get a templating system for osComm which I have been using, with that its very easy to move elements around the screen, but its still a pain to styalise the boxes etc.
At least Zen cart is centred on the page and makes better use of header images (or did you do that).
Regarding noChex, its a standard module in osComm, you just turn it on in the admin section, it seems to be more of a problem in Zen cart though...
Are you selling your stuff via other means at the moment?
I seem to remember you were thinking of getting a shop.

There is a NOchex module for Zencart which is plug and play. There is also a ProtX module and an offline credit card module (where you can take orders off the phone and enter the card details yourself). The same as OSC, it takes some getting used to in order to get things working and the learning curve is quite steep. But the same will apply to almost every ecommerce cart you use.

I have decided to continue with Zencart and I will just have to get my lazy butt into gear and figure it all out..... ;)
All the other systems out there with the exception of EKM Powershop tend to have one or two minor issues which have prevented me using them. The biggest one being the checkout.

Keep at it. www.flyjumperstore.com (http://www.flyjumperstore.com) is a great example of what could be achieved with ZenCart :)

Hi, I work for JSWeb and we specialise purely in Zen Cart so if you have any questions we're here to help.
Our services have been setup to help new businesses start selling online with ease. If you have any Zen Cart questions then feel free to contact us or perhaps we could start a new thread on the forum offering help if/when required.
Regards
Jamie
