Hi
I need a really good, but inexpensive way to send my email newsletters to customers.
I can't use Outlook Express cos I'm with aol and they'll only let me send 48 emails per day!!!!! And my webmail (came with the site hosting) is almost as bad. I am getting so frustrated that I'm considering giving up the idea of doing it!
I need to be able to send out approximately 3000 email newsletters a month, perhaps a bit more at Christmas. But I need to be able to do this inexpensively yet effectively.
All the email marketing campaign sites I've looked at are very expensive.
Can anyone give me some tips on the best way to do this or give me any companies that they've worked with? I would prefer to use an internet based service rather than have to download and faff around with installing software - I may run a e-commerce site but I have severe technological limitations!!
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Julie

You could look into setting up web based mailing list management software either on your current domain / hosting or on a separate domain. This would not involve ongoing subscription or per message charges as you own the system, the only on-going cost would be hosting. Such a system would incorporate many features to assist you in managing your mailing list and deal with subscribing and unsubscribing automatically. Statistics on the effectiveness of a mailing could also be expected.

Try www.constantcontact.com.

Works for me, and quite a few of my clients as well.

Agree with Constant Contact. The UK suppliers are very overpriced for the service which they offer. The only issue is data protection with regards to loading personal data on a US database. However again this is a grey area me thinks. Remember to get their logo removed from the bottom for your mailer. Lastly they do have some good templates which will probably work for you so you should be able to do it yourself. Failing that you can always go to a design agency for a cool html mailer. :)

I totally agree with the constant contact approach, very easy to use and very cost effective. Have been using now for around 10 months.

From the sound of it your cheapest option would be to ditch AOL! and then just send them out of Outlook. Or is this not possible?

Hi
Thanks for all your replies, help and information I'll look into the systems you all suggested tomorrow.
I do plan to dump aol but am contracted to them until end of december this year. They lock you into a 12 month contract - never again!!!
So any good isp referrals would also be much appreciated.
Thanks again.

There are quite a few similar to Constant Contact. It's worth doing some research and comparison.

ResultsMail
Newzapp
Campaign Monitor

and many more.

Hi we use this, it works well and lets you design an HTML or plain text email,
It works out at just under £50 one off payment, if you want the ability to track clickthroughs etc then they offer a tracker subscription which is about £8 per month.

Atomic Bulk Mail Sender (AMS) is a powerful program to send bulk email. This mailer accepts mailing lists generated in Excel, Access, DBF, Word as well as made in ASCII text files (.txt, .lst) or of your Outlook. Our bulk mailer can edit recipients lists importing emails from your Outlook address book or use mailing lists generated by our email extractor or any other email harvester. Atomic Mail Sender provides basic mailing list management routines: add new addresses, remove unused addresses, etc.

Atomic Mail Sender is a stand-alone bulk mailer program. All you need to use it is a connection to the Internet. The program has its own internal SMTP server and delivers mail messages directly to email recipients without your ISP mailbox.
