Hello,
I want to move over to a shopping cart.
My webdesigner is trying to get me to use Lycos eshop , but I didn't notice it mentioned in the sticky here , so I am a bit reluctant.
He has said Roman Cart would not work because they don't offer templates----------
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
best wishes,
funmi

Perhaps what your web designer is realy saying
He will have to learn how to make Roman cart look as tho it's part or your site, instead of just applying a template to Lycos :)

Hello ,
That's actually what I was thinking i.e he would rather stay with what he knows and ver me towards that rather than what is good for my business.
I am not insisting that Roman Cart is the best , but I got the feeling from reading the sticky that it is a good shopping cart.
I guess there are others , but I want to be sure he is not just trying to get me to use Lycos to make things easier for himself.
best wishes,

Hi
My personal view of Roman Cart it that it is very good and was excelent value for money, however they have recently changed ther pricing structure and it can know get quite expensive depending on what options you want to use

Hello,
Thanks.
Can you recommend a shopping cart?
I just don't want to follow blindly and go with Lycos?

Have a look at Actinic. Thats what I use and I did find it relativley easy to integrate my website design that Matrixx did originally into the cart thing.
Make sure the cart does what you want it to do fucntion wise and not go with it just because someone finds it easier to work with! You can trial carts like actinic so trial it! This is the best way!
I might be wrong but you sound like you are stuck with your webdesigner like you would be with your accountant. You can change web designers if these chaps aren't the right ones. :)

Hello,
Thanks , I'll have a look at Actinic , I have the list of what you should look for in a shopping cart from the sticky ,and also more peculiar to my business.
You are right about my webdesigner , he is a friend of a friend , and my first standard website was a good price so once I know what I want I'll like to give him a chance and guage whether he can move me on to the next stage or not.
best wishes,

Actinic is great and ideal if your new to ecommerce but also take a look at x-cart.com which is also great but might lead to design problems if your designer can not code understand "smartie"

Hi
I have used 1&1 eshop in the past without any problems. Simple interface, but shame they don't have designexamples on their site.
Have a look http://1and1.startupsuppliers.co.uk
