Do you mean my own product or do you mean products we have purchased?

Pretty much most items in our house are made in China, from my HIFI seperates system to my motherboard.

In general.....When I first started my venture I had samples made both in the UK and in China, the quality was far greater in China and of course the cost is a lot less. I've been there three times this year to visit the factories where its manufactured and found the whole experience fantastic. My first manufacturing batch created 40 jobs and I felt a proud 23 year old meeting the employees and hearing how grateful they were, they could now provide extra income and have a much better life. A quite emotional time for me but I left a very happy chappy! I have created a real bond with them and we speakl daily on MSN and exchange holiday pictures etc.....Its just a shame this cant take place in the UK :|

First of all great product you have there! Dealing with China is great. I think eddieriby hit the nail on the head when mentioning "a real bond". This is commonplace in the far East for the supplier and customer to form a relationship as opposed to just doing business. Even though we deal with many suppliers we still have this relationship with each of them and it is very rewarding. As you say it is unfortunate this cannot be replicated elsewhere on a consistent basis. Loyal, keen workforces...no wonder they are no 1!

:| Yes, all this sounds good. However don't you think that those benefits are at the expense of Chinese liberties? I suppose if they had more freedom they would prefer to lead themselves. Do you think China without true democracy is sustainable? What I suppose is that one day China will go down temporarily because there will be a democratic revolution that will sweep away everything. You might not believe it but then no one believed USSR would collapse. There is one point can be made. Usually oppressive regimes promote internationalism and grounds for good bonding.

Is it sustainable? Or will it be another bubble similar to the internet bubble?

For me it is still a question to be solved.

I can see that globalization goes well with dictatorships and badly with democratic regimes. People very often become nationalists which is the real obstacle for globalization and worldwide peace. People are not prepared yet to be worldwide. China’s phenomenon is due to the strict control of people by not so democratic government. And honestly I don’t know if it is good or bad thing.

I have heard the same story on several occassions but one that sticks in mind was heard on a recent visit to China. Very briefly, we met with the factory owner who picked us up in his new Audi and drove us to his factory where he employed 50 staff. Taking a step back in time he told us 10 years ago he was a beekeeper and could not even afford a bike. It was not the material things that drove him but the fact that it made him proud doing what he was doing.

Sustainability?.....of course only time will tell, don't think it can be related to the ".com era". Fact however is, if the bubble bursts in China, it will have a domino effect.

Ditto, I was put up in a beautiful hotel, driven everywhere in like you say a new Audi, presented with fresh fruit when we got in the car ready for the journey to the factories. They even took me clubbing one night!!
