Last year I had a great idea for providing Creative Agency services (in this case designing ad' campaigns and placing them in a very high profile site) to businesses targeting a niche market frequenting the site - absolutely loads of potential, growth market and first client acquired very quickly...very good profit levels, unique selling point impressing everyone...everybody happy...moves made to start producing a magazine and various other projects. I 'downshifted' after selling internet businesses I'd launched in my mid-twenties using the funds to purchase my house and have since worked only a day few days a month - which is a personal choice, not business related. I want to carry on working because I enjoy it and because I need a small income - although money is not a priority. My house is actually in France and from the end of this month I shall be living theri full-time (family reasons) for the last few months I've been to-ing and fro-ing - as French resident I cannot run and operate a UK Ltd company without a huge amount of hassle so found a brilliantly talented friend who could take over the business, I would have retained a few shares and worked for the company as a freelance from France - earnings would have massively lowered, as being a freelance in France I have to pay huge contributions equal to NI but i would have had the freedom to work part-time and as mentioned, money is not the priority. Unfortunately my friend can not now take over the business due to pending and unexpected divorce.

Does anyone have any advice re selling a business quickly...reason i need to sell quickly is not at all suspect, simply I need to do it before I become French resident and that will be end of this month! As mentioned, I sold shares in internet businesses I'd launched some years ago and even then there was a hge amount of being mucked around. The business is a bit more than a start up as its traded, shows profit etc but I'm tempted, in a desparate attempt to avoid hassle just to sell it as a startup, ie Ltd company with website, bank account etc which could help someone wanting to start up in a similar area...rather than as a going concern where, I'm going to have to travel to and fro over the channel to explain the workings of pr, graphic design and marketing to people who have never been self employed before and then decide its not for them. Does anyone have any idea how much a ltd company with good credit, trading history, very good domain name, bank account etc is worth if sold in this capacity...I was thinking maybe 2K? if anyone could advise I would be really grateful...also if anyone knows of any business sale sites that are reasonably priced and used by business people (not people being bought businesses for their birthdays!) - i dont really want to giev my company away for peanuts and have to pay 60 pounds to have advertised it.

Also, if there happen to be any marketing or publishing companies out there that are thnking of expanding, please do drop me a line as as mentioned, ideal scenario is to carry on to build the business on a part-time basis for the new owner...although as you can probably tell from my post, a quick solution is needed and I'm hoping, thro seeking the right people to work with, or even the right person to give the business to over everything else, that these good vibes and right intentions make for a positive outcome for everyone - I hope this can still happen in this day and age!

Thank you Pete. The other thing I was thinking of was whether any one could advise of a site similar to this one with a decent community of posters (I have actually been using this site for a good while on and off and prefer it to other sites which seem just to be full of people bickering ).

sitepoint, namepros forums are also good place for selling sites, you may also consider ebuy auction site for placing your ad for bidding.
