I work as a Business Development Manager for the Royal Bank of Scotland in Herts, Beds & Bucks. My role is to liase with intermediaries ie mortgage brokers, IFA's, with a view to arranging commercial finance. In addition I deal directly with businesses opening accounts and providing lending solutions.
I will be able to offer guidence on RBS's lending criteria and procedures aswell as the market in general as I have worked for other banks in the past.

It's going to be great having someone at the forums from the banking community. Welcome.
There's an interesting set of billboards around here from a bank that's trying to promote its services to small business. The images show the "typical" bank as opposed to their bank - selling by contrast. In one, the "typical" bank manager is saying, "I've passed kidney stones bigger than your business!". Is RBS known as a bank friendly to small business?

RBS is a great brand. Remember the Natwest brand is included within the group. I've found them to be very good lately at the smaller end of the market where finance is concerned.

Hi Ricky,
Let me applaude your initiative and bravery for joining these boards! Small business and big 'faceless' companies such as banks don't always see eye to eye but I have to say that RBS was (and still is) there for me and my little business and they have never judged me on my small turnover. Look forward to your input on the boards.
Welcome!

Welcome to the Forums!
I'm sure you'll find them very useful. And, if RBS would like a quote for Computer Valeting... just ask!

First of guys I would like to thank everybody for their warm reception. I appreciate that a lot of people will have had issues with their bank in the past so I appreciate your welcome.
With reference to Small Business, I am confident that RBS are well set up in the branches to deal with their needs. The account will be opened by the Business Manager who will be ultimately responsible for the relationship. These managers are only responsible for business that has a turnover of up to £1M pa so nothing will be 'too small' for them. The best thing to do is make an appointment and leave a business plan if you have one.
I am happy to contact local branches on your behalf to book an appointment if you would like me to.
Regards,
Ricky

Ricky, have you been with RBS long? As I am in Leighton Buzzard we could possibly talk.

Hi Ricky,
Welcome to the Forum...I too am new to the forum...:)
I have a quick question for you, how much would RBS charge me for a Merchant Account - this will allow me to take credit cards on my sites?
Setup Fee? Monthly Charges? Transaction Charges?
Cheers
