Hello there! I have no idea what's wrong with invoices but it seems that most of our clients don't like it. Other than invoices, are there any other formal and easy-to-use way of sending bills to our clients online?

Try emailing them as a printed PDF as an easy start.

Our invoices are in PDF format.

Just saw an invoice from one of our suppliers using Kashflow! Looks pretty impressive! It came to us by PDF attached to an email.

How you demand payment will very much depend on the services you offer. There are various ways including frequent payments such as FuturePay (by WorldPay, and I am not recommending them!)

Absolutely nothing wrong with invoices, they are how every business bills its customers, electronic variations are still invoices at the end of the day.

Thanks for the advice handsong but I guess there's nothing with how it looks like or whatever about its physical features. What I'm asking is, maybe people have developed some sort of allergy to it that everytime I send in invoices people either ignore it or disappear leaving it unpaid. Worst is I would even receive sarcastic words about it.

*insert evil laugh* my plans for world domination are coming along nicely!

Hi Epithet,

It sounds like there could be other issues at play.

What do you do for your clients? Do they know how much it is going to cost in advance? Are they expecting the invoice? What kind of remarks are you getting?

hello Duane! Before we let any client lease an agent from us we inform them about all payment due in exchange for a particular service that our agents would work for them.

For example, for linkbuilders they know how much upfront cost they need to pay before getting started and they know how much is our monthly bill for such service. Also, we inform them what they can get from the said amount and in what time can we give them the results. All is clear and we never include deception in our work. We are still small and we are still in the process of building our name and credibility so we don't do any monkey business.

What happens however is that after a month of working with us and of communicating with us -- saying everything is working well for them -- they just disappear..gone with the wind.

How frustrating that after all the efforts you still get nothing. :(

Do you have any sort of contract or deposit sysytem set in place? If you make a client pay something upfront and sign something then they are very unlikely to do a runner.

Once the work is finished. If you have no proof that you were working for them then I'm sure some people will leave without paying. It's the same reason why restaurants with outside seating make you pay in advance.

What I find most of the customers are finding excuses to delay things, you need to start charging penalties to these customers.
