I need to create an e-commerce application that will allow me to add options to the product that will effect the price. Is there any one who could point me in the right direction to a quick and easy solution, i do have some programming knowledge but not in web applications.

Hi Mitch
I suppose it depends on what e-commerce software you are using to build your shop - would assume quite a lot of them out there would offer this as it will be a popular option.
I am currently working on an e-commerce shop for a designer jewellery gallery - I used ShopDirector for this and for some of the products, I have had to add in options (i.e ring in different widths/metals) which affect the original price - this was easy to do and came as part of the standard shop software (£49.99 + VAT)
hope that helps

Hi
I use ShopDirector which is php based - very basic and I think you would need a reasonable grasp of html to get the best of it (my Funkycanvas site uses it). I do all the brochure style, non-ecommerce pages just in Dreamweaver and then link them into the shop part.
Have also used Actinic - which is easy to use, hard to customise and quite expensive though very suitable for some users.

If your looking for real time pricing updates you should look at some of the web 2.0 modules availible for off the shelf packages. These modules mean the price will update without having to refresh the page

add options to the product that will effect the price
Actinic does allow you to do this but I don't think it updates the price automatically on the very page you select that option. But it does show you the price for each optiona nd the revised priced is shown on the basket.

Let me see if i can explain what i need a bit better, each prduct will need to be able to have multiple drop down boxes with various options in each that will change the price of the product automatically. Is there any pre-built e-commerce solutions that would allow me to do this? Is there anybody who could build the solution for a price? or is there anywhere i can get some advice for building my own solution?
Thanks
Mitch

You could actually use anything and it doesn't have to use "web 2.0" Ajax HTTpRequest. Simple old Javascript with the php (if chosen) would do the trick if you use an off the shelf solution or built your self.
All what is needed is a few "if" statements won't go into too much detail here.
