Hey folks!
I'm looking to learn more about SEO.
I know some basics and I've gotten good results so far, but there are big gaps in my knowledge.
I know there are a number of SEO forums out there. Does anyone have any recommendations about which ones I should be reading?
Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
I would go to
http://www.webmasterworld.com/
or
http://www.searchenginenews.com/
I am a member of both and they are very good and full of decent information.

Hi Steve,
Matt Cutts (a google engineer) has a good forum which includes Google Videos answering various questions. Go to http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/type/googleseo/
Search Engine Watch also has a good forum well worth reading - http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Steve,
You couldn't do us a favour and have a look at our forum could you:
forums.digital-m.co.za
We've just started and could use some posts. You might recognise a couple of seochat faces, and you'd be sure of individual attention :D

Steve, you'll find you spend a lot of time trying to seperate the wheat from the chaff too. I don't use forums at all. I did frequent some of them when I was first starting out in seo as it seemed the obvious place to source relevant info. The problem for me was that I'd spend at least 8-10 hours every day reading up anything I could on seo as my early client list had a bad habit of leaving me with loads of free time on my hands.
I gleaned all the basics the obvious stuff that anyone knows if they've spent a few days scrolling around the forums but after a while (probably a long while as I tend to analyse, then analyse again) I realised that when it came to 'core seo info' real meaty info wasn't and still isn't available.
As each client came along, I applied all sorts of thoughts and techniques regarding seo to client pages and experimented a hell of a lot on any page I could lay my hands on. Some techniques worked well, others didn't, I kept analysing and experimenting for a long time before I was able to identify a definite pattern to the work. Since then I've adapted and adopted new techniques which have worked extremely well for my clients over a very long time.
I'd guess that it's likely you already know most of the elements required to get you off to a good start but you won't know how best to deploy them.
Deployment in terms of maxing out the seo isn't on any forum because the companies that do it to the max do not open up their techniques to the forum world. Or anywhere else.
Forget the robot is automated, pretend it's a person and you are having a conversation with that person by using words you and he understand the relevance of, then put the conversation on the page. Start a new conversation on a related topic, wind it up logically then put that conversation on another page. Repeat the process until the site is complete. You're a bright spark, think it through and you'll see what I meanhttp://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif
