Anyone ever advertised with these guys ? If so, how well did it perform ?

There prices seem a little too high for me as it's a small publication that goes out 5 times a year. They have three different areas.....

"Rates: To help local businesses as much as we can in this challenging economic climate, we’ve held our prices for a fourth consecutive year.

Rhiwbina Living: Business card £52.50, Quarter Page £95, Half Page £185, Full Page £365 (4,400 copies delivered door-to-door by US in Rhiwbina)
Whitchurch and Llandaff Living: Business card £55, Quarter Page £110, Half Page £225, Full Page £450 (6,000 copies distributed free throughout Whitchurch, Llandaff and Llandaff North – shops, supermarkets, surgeries, coffee shops etc)
Danescourt Living: Business Card £25, Quarter Page £49, Half Page £99, Full Page £199 (1,500 delivered door-to-door by US in Danescourt. Please note that this is an A5 publication)"

The above it taken from here (http://livingmags.co.uk/blog/2012-rates-dates-and-discounts-prices-held-for-a-fourth-consecutive-year).

The quality of their print is very good, but not too sure about the content. That said I only have one issue from one of the areas that they cover. I think I'd rather pay less for a larger circulation with better content and slightly lower quality print.

i've had a call from these guys and a couple others working around cardiff. You need to be very careful using mags like this. In my experience they don't pay especially at that price.

I can't speak for this one in partiular but mags like this get most their income from targetting new businesses rather than return custom.

Yeah, tempted to keep my eye on who keeps advertising in there (and who doesn't) and give a few of both groups a call to see how they feel/felt about advertising in them and if they were worth the money.

Thanks, good to know. I think they need to:-

Have more and better content
Reduce the paper quality (it's almost like card)
Increase their distribution/circulation numbers
Reduce their advertising costs (maybe compensate by having more ads placed with a bigger magazine that has more content, point 1).

It should then be able to produce the same/more amount of income form advertising whilst becoming a better publication with a wider audience. This of course will cost them more time in staff/labour etc, but not sure they'll be around for long if their prices are that high and the companies are getting little/no return for their money.....
