View Full Version : Our site has become unbearably slow of late

Our film portal (http://www.ukhotmovies.com/reviews/) loads very slowly on my computer. It is 20 to 30 seconds before each page appears, and that's on my 2Mb broadband connection. Is it the same on other people's PCs please?
In the bottom right-hand corner of Internet Explorer, there is a red circle with a white line going through it. This is the Privacy Report indicator. When I click on it, it says that the cookies have been blocked. These are from other sites that we syndicate content. Are these causing the slowness? Is there anything we can do to get rid of this red warning?
Thanks a million.

About 4 seconds here too... (10Mb)
It's possible ads from other sites are slowing down your browser in displaying the full page.

i would say it is most probably the ads, try removing the code tha inserts them, then go to yourpage
there isnt anything particularly large to load (though for a dial up, there is), though i have read that if you are using tables, the browser takes longer to render the page as it needs all content before it knows th eexact layout, where as in css it knows before it renders the page due to your css style sheet

Thank you very very much to everyone. The problem, we have discovered, is occuring we are syndicating some of our content from another site and their servers are slow. We are having content fed to us via a Javascript and that is causing the slowness. The pages that don't have the Javascript are superfast.
Am going to try to sort it out ASAP. Thanks to everyone again.
