Hi,

Does anyone have experience of using Live Chat software for support or sales work on a website?

I'm planning to install a program on our site and I need to find out what people think of the available offerings (some of which look a bit ropey to me...).

My main worry is that my client base might not have the appropriate plugins and client software installed to be able to use these things properly (.Net, Java, etc).

Any recommendations?

Thanks
Al

We use Kayako Live Response which comes as part of the helpdesk. Although you can purchase it seperate. We really like it:

Users dont need anything apart from a web browser.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've found one that does just what I need called Provide Support. If it keeps working I'll let you know how I get on...

We use PHP Live! on our website and have found it very helpful. We get several people a day contacting us through it, and it also doubles up as live support to clients we licence our web software to behind the scenes and works very well. We haven't played with the Knowledge Base facility yet, but when I get time I think I'll give it a try!
Its also good for seeing how many people are on your website and what pages they are on. It is not free, but only a hundred or so dollars a year which includes upgrades and patch fixes.
