I have been approached by these guys about recovering outstanding debt on our behalf. They want 950.00 + VAT upfront per annum. They supplied 2no business references who both had mobile telephone contacts and no landline numbers? Can anyone recommend them.

These type of companies have an excellent sales patter, how they can trace directors and reclaim assets and get back what's rightfully owed to you.

If they are so confident then why request money upfront? Ask if they will take a commission on the money recovered? The answer they will give is no of course!

The other avenue to try is to sell the debt to a debt recovery agency, though what you receive will depend on the collectability of the debt and it'll usually be a small proportion of what your owed.

Rule #1 If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is!

Sorry I have never heard of them, but if I was you I would be asking a few questions like how did they find out your contact details? How did they know you needed debt collection work done?

Surely if you need this type of work completed it would be better for you to source a reputable company rather than from someone who is cold-calling?

Simple answer, either put the phone down or delete their email!

NEVER EVER pay fees upfront I have seen time after time where someone pay's a fee up front and never see anything. A number of members on UKBF have had the same done to them.

If your looking for a debt collector you want No recovery No Fee with no initial fee up front, If the company is any good and they get you your money you wont mind paying them a resonable %.

If you are owed money take it to a small claims court. Do it legally, debt collectors working on your behalf could get you in a lot of trouble especially over here. In Northern Ireland we have no such thing as bailiffs, and anyone you would send to their door has no authority to demand money from them or to enter their premises and take anything as payment.
Bit late but hope it helps

Debt Collectors are not Bailiffs

Bailiffs have a various powers, Debt collectors have none.
