Hey everyone,

I take dollars from a few clients for one of the companies i'm involved with and currently deposit these (cheques or wire transfers) into a Sterling account and pay the associated fees. We also pay a number of suppliers in dollars and have to then reconvert it to pay them. It's not a huge amount of money so it's not worth spending much but i wanted to check if anyone could advise on the best/cheapest way to setup a business dollar account so i can keep funds in this currency and not have to reconvert? I'm not bothered about getting good interest as there's unlikely to be much cash in the account, i'd prefer it had no monthly charge and didn't charge large fees for depositing cheques. i'm setting up a whole new account for the company so would ideally like one bank i can setup a sterling and dollar account with which (ideally!) charges no banking fees (like Santander etc).

Any advice or pointers anyone can give would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Dave

Youre own bank should be able to give you a $ currency account so you can pay in and pay out in USD without hideous charges.
I use RBS and have both EU and USD accounts.

I had a US$ account set up with HSBC, as Dave says, nearly all banks will offer this option. And if you need advice on a currency broker for swapping your $ into £, PM me, we use a couple of good ones :) Save hundreds of pounds over using our bank.
