Hi,
I dont have a bad credit history and I dont have a credit card. I dont intend asking anyone to assist but myself. I have had perhaps 5 refer to drawers over the last say 10yrs of banking, but recently Ive been trying for a personal loan and been declined.
I cannot even get to see my credit report from Experian without a credit card...is there any other way I can see my credit report / history? I tried Using VISA 3V voucher but Experian say this credit card mode is not acceptable. All good advice welcome.
Regards,

You don't need a credit card to see your credit report.
Write to experian with a £2 postal order requesting your credit report.
You don't need to sign up to their creditexpert service in order to see your credit report.

If you dont have loans or credit cards they have nothing to judge you by so turn you down even though you could be an asset rich millionair but cash poor

Hi,
Have you tried for an overdraft? Usually easier to get than a loan...
I went through lloyds id aware to check on my credit report.
I heard bad things about the other companies ie that they were impossible to cancel so I went with slightly more expensive one.
It's about £7/month but you can just have it for a month then send an email to cancel (which is what I did).
Found out there was still an open Vodafone account on there that I closed years ago, I don't think it affected me negatively but good to get it sorted!
I've been in UK 3 years, it's taken me this long to get overdraft and I still don't have a credit card because I don't have good enough credit!

Your credit score is made up of many factors, not just whether you have credit cards/previous loans.
One aspect is whether you're on the Electoral Register.
Here's a useful FAQ from Experian:

If you've never used credit facilities then you may not have a credit history to report on!

Hi All,
Just found out about what having a credit history means and how important it is.
Now I am slowly creating a worthy credit history with the assistance of two Credit building credit cards.
So greatful for the advice I got here....makes me wonder how many souls out there go through life not knowing WHY they cant get HP or other life demanding assistance?
Great site,
