Lol.

In fairness they had big companies on their books but I think it's this modern thing of talk bol**cks and charge big bills! Would be ncie fi they talked simple English.

Top class, large clients etc are likely to be very costly. If you have a small budget you may just need to employ the services of a marketing consultant working with a Graphic designer etc

We do all our branding ourselves with our own Graphic Designers etc

The trouble with traditional agencies is that they tend to charge rather a lot, mostly because they all have flashy offices and lots of staff. The sector is in trouble right now because lots of companies, even quite large ones, are doing what I advise you to do: get in a bunch of freelancers or a small online business. Drop me a PM if you want some project management tips.

I'm going to put it to you that, if they talked plain English, you wouldn't hire them.

As far as I'm concerned, branding (which is different to "positioning", which actually has some substance behind it) is the biggest square wheel in existence.

I think Steve's right in the sense that branding in and of itself is of little value - it's part of a larger package. If someone designs your stuff or writes your copy they will bear in mind your brand.

The business of branding, taken in isolation from these activities, is usually just common sense. The only advantage to hiring an outsider would be to solve the problem of subjective judgement.

I work with a small design agency that classes itself as a 'brand driven web and print communication agency'. They are based in Ewell, Surrey so have much lower costs than the large London agencies.

If you are interested to see what they have done then take a look at their website www.6thdegreeltd.co.uk.

All the best,

Lindsey.

Talk to Bob at Zest http://www.zest4.biz on 01244 300858 or 0161 775 1669. He runs a small agency but has a variety of clients. They don't talk rubbish and will work within budget to get you what you are looking for. They offer a range of graphic design and can come up with loads of ideas.

We are just near the end of a major branding project for a retail store, which sounds very similar to your project

We are delivering all the web and print media ourselves, and have produced a comprehensive brand manual which is being used as the basis of all the work by the shopfitters, the sign makers, and the vehicle livery guys.

We beleive in strongly managed and consistent brands.
We're a small company that speaks english so no jargon here.
Give me a call if we can be of help on 0121 354 8001

Try Mark Edwards at Polar10 (http://www.polar10.com). They are based in Cardiff so much lower costs than London and the SE (and very good)!

Thanks for all of these, have had alook through, a couple caught my eye. So important to get it right, if I mess up with 100k of someone elses money and it all failed I'd not feel too good!
