If you are sending something recorded delivery and you print off postage at your workplace nd then have it picked up how do you get proof of postage? Do you have to go post office if you want proof of postage? If you haven't had it stamped and it gets lost surely you can't claim?

If you send something recorded delivery, you'll get a signature on your half of the recorded delivery slip. You will have a record.

I know that but what I am saying is, if you print your postage then have it picked up what do they do then, does the delivery man sign every slp for you?!

If you are using a franking machine as you seem to imply then i suggest you contact your supplier who can advise you, or call Royal Mail helpline

The person collecting your mail will sign recorded or special delivery slips.

If you are using PPI, you will get a recorded delivery book (and a separate one for special delivery) where you list all the addresses and which is signed - there are different RD slips for this. Not sure about franking but for Smartstamp you just use the ordinary slips.

I believe you can also do this electronically, but we only send 1 or 2 RD per day so don't bother.
