I was made redundant End Jan 2011, I worked as a contractor for 2 months & did not register as self employed, as i had 90 days to do this.but started new job april 2011.

Do I have to do a Tax self assesment for 2011, event though I was only doing this for 2 months ?,can i not just make a one off tax return ?

Yes you will need to do a Tax Return. There is no 90 day window for registering for self employment now. You need to do it immediately or there is a penalty.
