HI.

I would like some advice please. I have been running my own online business which I sell laptops and computers for 3 years now. The business has been good so far and I was thinking to expand it and open a shop. But people told me opening another online store will be more successful than a shop, because these days, more people use online shopping than buying from retailers.
Any advice, comment, idea are welcomed. Thanks a lot

Do you already have ecommerce store online, if so why not market that, develop it, rebrand it. Opening another one will just cost you money.

Opening a shop you need money for that as Computer Shops need to be on the main street with loads of people walking past as they can come in and speak to you about the system they want.

Have you researched your area to see if its something you would benifit from.

There are loads of options you can consider. if you can pm me your website (if you have one) I can give you some pointers on what yu can do to improve and updating products on your website is another way to push sales through.

Hope this helps and awaiting your reply.

Do you sell on eBay ? I bought a PC one from eBay and when I went to the checkout I had the option to upgrade parts too, was very well done but can't remember who it was from sorry.

Maybe just use eBay to try and drive free/cheap traffic to your main site ? What about Freeads, fridayads, gumtree, flyers in shops, schools, colleges or uni ?

Thanks for your advices guys. I also have an ebay shop which is ok,
but the traffic and sales I receive through my online store is far better than my ebay's.
Another thing to emphasize also, I think it isn't allowed to advertise or put your website url on your ebay store, which means you must operate your ebay store and your online store separately. Is there a way to link them together so that your ebay customers could see that you also have an online store and vis versa?

Can you pass your link to your online store here or pm it over to me please? If you don't mind I can assist you in some pointers etc.. or even do some work it is up to you.

Policy overview

When you list items on eBay, you can include certain kinds of links in your item description to help promote or sell your item. However, there are some kinds of links we don't allow. For example, you can't link to personal or business websites from your listing.

According to eBay's R&C you can place name of your website onto the photo as it isn't a weblink :) there is always the door opened somewhere.

Hi Paul, if it's working well, why not do another online store and angle it slightly different to pick up a different client-base, perhaps specialising in a certain kind of top-selling or high-markup products... i know a guy who has a store on the streets and it struggles to break even, i think it's a different kettle of fish, but then again his website isn't doing well either

Yeap, that was the policy that was implemented when I had a store. That being said, I still sent a leaflet with my website in clear text with every single order :)

Hey Paul!!
You have a established online business and you are earning a good profit over there. So what is the need of another web portal to sell laptops. I would like to suggest you to open a store in your area and also continue with your old online portal.
