Hi Everyone,
I am in need of some help for my new business. I am selling gay greeting cards online. So far I have been running three months and orders are growing week-on-week. See gaycardshop dot com
I was told that to get some exposure in front of the right people I should send a press release to all of the gay magazines/press.
I have never written a press release before and have no idea what it should include or how it should be tackled. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance, Trevor

Hi Trevor
Take a look at the Press release section of this forum to see some great examples. Also, this website http://www.pressdispensary.co.uk
gives a good guide on how to write a press release if you really have to do it yourself.
Otherwise, I would recommend getting a professional on the job to write one for you.
Magazines and the gay press would be a good start. How about sending flyers to gay bars, clubs, groups etc... To spread the word about your service.

Hi Trevor,
Great site and a great idea. I think your best markeing strategy would be to send out cards to all gaymagazines, web sites etc with a hand written message about you and you service. There is nothing better than sending out your product with a personalised message. I have a great deal of experience marketing to the gay community and have received fantastic feedback. Check out my 'Gay Bears'

When we opened our personalised Teddy Bear shop in Blackpool I send out postcards from our shop in Benidorm to all the Gay friendly hotels with a message Your Bear is in the post Muchos Besos Paul xxx
Then followed this up with a sample bear. They all loved them it created a great deal of orders and a tremendous amount of goodwill
Good luck I'm sure with the right exposure you will do very well
Muchos besos

Thanks Mark, Thanks Jacqui.
I think flyers is a good idea, but for now I will start with the press release to keep costs down and tackle the flyers next!
Cheers, Trevor

Eeek have to admit - I didnt look at your site ! So my impression was that it was an e-card business ! My apologies.
In that case yes, your cards will be much more appropriate to send out with the press releases. Only thing is that with clubs/bars etc it is going to be vry pricey to use them as promo material. So you could maybe do a mini version of you decide to go down that route.
Good luck
