Hi all,
I'm trying to climb the search engine ladder in the most economical way!
Looking at pay-per click. Can anyone tell me if 'Overture' is worth a go!

Yes. It has some helpful free tools that allow you to see what search terms people are using and also how much they are bidding. The negative side is you have to pay at least £60 in advance and £20/month minimum spend.

Google Adwords is faster to get going but there is only a minimal upfront payment (£5 I think) and no minimum monthly spend. Google cover themselves and Ask! and Yahoo (who now own Overture) cover the rest including MSN. Although I believe MSN and Yahoo have fallen out and MSN are creating their own platform.

One other point, make sure the laning page for the advert is well desgined there's no point sending them to your home page unless it's specific to the advert.

Read everything that you can on search engine optimization (SEO) sign up for some of the numerous free newsletters. Experiment, track and measure. If you are persistent you will get better and better results.
