can companies stop you from trading

Can anyone tell me if it is illegal to stop another company from buying supplies or stop them trading?
The reason I ask is a friends son is trying to start his own carpet business and has been buying from a company as and when he has a carpet to fit. His aim is to save enough money to open a small shop. It appears that someone has complained he does not have a shop and that the supplier he has shouldnt be supplying him.
I have no idea on the legalities of this.

Are you sure this belongs in Wales? I think you would get a better response in one of the major sections.

With regards the question though I am sure it is upto the suipplier who they sell to. I don't believe anyone would not supply someone just because they don't have a shop.
