Your voice is probably your most important means of communication, whether you are talking to someone face to face, or on the telephone. Improve your voice with breath control and elocution in order to acquire more assertiveness, command and charisma.

As kids, most of us were taught to breathe through the nose but ask yourself, does Pavarotti breathe through the nose when he's belting out an aria with a voice that nearly blows the audience out of their seats?

A voice only has power and carrying ability if it's supported on a cushion of air. A deep breath, taken correctly, fills the lungs completely. The way singers and actors control the output of air, and thus the sustaining and carrying power of their voice, is by use of the muscles below the rib cage, hence the idea of Vocal Kung Fu.

Vocal Kung Fu. Well, that's what Valentine calls it anyway. Of course it's got almost nothing to do with martial arts, except the attitude. It's about vocally 'kicking some arse'!

My Kung Fu voice is firmly where it belongs - but where abouts in Brighton are you? (Poets Corner myself.)
