and I don't mean just sales calls. Recently I have found that I am getting the same type of calls from "people" wanting to know certain information.

Basically, I advertise a job vacancy and then I get interest or application calls. Now what I have found recently is that in a certain area I get calls from 3 or 4 different people who have called back a few times (as I recognise the voice) asking questions straight away like:

Is this job working for [insert co name] or
My name is Jane, I am interested in , who will I be working for?

This is not the normal way to apply for jobs and I am certain that it is another local recruitment agency as I always hear voices in the background, they always call from witheld numbers and only ever seem to have a mobile number (which never works!) and have no landline. Recently I have been getting the response: "I will call you back then if I want to apply"

This is frustrating and timewasting and I would love to find out who is doing it. I have spoken to BT and all they have advised is barring the number from calling me but I can't do 1471 straight after the call as I have to barr it first. Does that make sense? So I have to be certain it is the same timewasters before I barr it and have to go off judement of the calls.

Does anyone else have any similar things happen to them?

Anyone have any advice on how I can catch them?

If you are suspicious say can I take your name and number and I will call you back as I have been receiving some strange calls. If they are a genuine applicant they will have no problem with this.

IT probably is just another agency trying to pinch your information on which companies are recruiting.

NO!

Never tell anyone in any capacity other than an official one that your having any kind of difficulties.

Tell the person to mail/email their CV or ask to take their details and you will contact them - according to what you wish to do, but never ever disclose to anyone you do not know that your receiving any kind of nuisance or anything like that.

At the very least you might turn away a potentially good applicant (not wanting to deal with nuisance calls) or give some bright spark you eventually turn down a fire to stoke to get back at you.

From what you said though, it does sound like another organisation sussing out whats going on recruitment wise. Id not be surprised to receive a sales call by an agency or nine at some point!

Sounds like it to me.

Yeah I am pretty sure it is and the local ones near me are small and would probably stoop to this kind of behaviour quite a lot.

I would love to find out who it is and pay them a visit.
