Hello there,
Just to let you know; this isn't an official support channel. So the 93 views will just be other UKBF users. To be honest, I don't think you'll find any company that offers 24/7 personalised support for free, on a free product. (We highlight our official support channel in the registration email you received and also in the program. When you ask a question via that channel, the system we use suggests suitable answers. I think it probably would have answered at least part of your question.)
If the save button isn't highlighted, then it means the transaction is not balanced. One common reason for this is too many analysis code lines. See here (http://getsatisfaction.com/tas/topics/cant_delete_analysis_codes) for an explanation.
Analysis codes are just a way of classifying your transactions, so you (and your accountant) can easily see what's going on.
Say you had a telephone bill for £100 + VAT. When you enter the invoice, you enter the £100 and make sure it's classed as standard rate VAT so it adds the £20 - making a total of £120. To make the transaction 'balance' you just make sure that the analysis also adds up to £120 - its shows you in the bottom right hand corner.
The program will automatically have put in the £20 to the VAT analysis code. You just decide how to record the rest. In this case, you'd probably choose 'Telephone'. So select telephone and enter £100. The transaction now balances and you can save it.
Some invoices will be for more than one thing, so you can split the analysis - adding as many lines as you need. There's a more detailed and better) explanation of analysis codes in the program helpfile.
