Hello Matthew.
Computer business is a hard market. I currently have no vacancy for a reseller. Margins just are not there.
Alternatively take a job (spit!) with a computer sales reseller company as "commision only" salesman, gain experience, knowledge.

Problem I find is Dell and the likes of Dabs have killed the reseller market. They are so cheap you cannot buy wholesale for less. This is why most traditional computer suppliers have moved into the services market.
If you need to supply hardware or software, go to Dabs add 10% and hope your customer doesn't have an internet?
Software sales I do not get involved with, if software is cheap it can only be because it is illegal.
Do your customers need websites? I can offer commis on website sales?
Why does it need to be about price? I wouldn't like to say what I think about Dell gear, but lets just say personally I wouldn't touch it. But lets not get into a computer manufacturer dispute.
Most people want a computer that is stable and will get support both hardware and software from their supplier.
Try suppliers like Computer 2000 - www.computer2000.co.uk and ingram www.ingrammicro.com
Perhaps you could be more specific with your request and there might be people who can help on here.

Prices between DABS and Ingram and C2000 do not differ much, sometimes the distis charge more than DABS once you take del costs into consideration. You will only get margins from them if you are turning over 100k's. And you will have to leap through hoops to get an account. Also Ts and Cs are strict B2B terms, with DABS you would be covered under consumer law.

Not so on this point. With Ingram I found it very easy, have ordered very little many many months ago - I still have an account. With CK2 they said you had to be VAT registered which I am.
Delivery cost are high - I think £11.00+ for CK2 and around £9.99 Ingram Micro - both I assume are exc vat.
As datahound said you do need to be buying in VERY large quantities to get any decent prices. (Maybe customer service comes when you have a large wallet.)
Also dabs customer service is probably better than these two distributor giants put together (Maybe customer service comes when you have a large wallet) - so all round it might be best to see if you can find a good reseller like dabs if you need stuff.
Bye for now

LOL
CC turn over 2.3 billion ( reseller)
Ingram and C2000 (for the oldies out there it was Frontline) have over 20,000 active resellers each (distributors)
The hardware & software market is still growing
Yes there has been some consolidation and some very big companies have entered the market that you would not link to selling servers and PC's i.e. BT but to say the above is laughable. Sorry
I have spent 13 years in new business sales in IT, 3 as a consultant to many SME's and there is a huge market out there.
So back to the post
A trade account with Priceless if you need bits, if you need branded servers and PC's Ingram Micro, C2000, Ideal hardware are all big distributors.
Good luck
