Hi guys, this is a bit of a thorny issue, and I am wondering where I stand, both legally and ethically.
I have three invoices that I have recieved for services that I had signed up for a trial period for. When I say 'signed up', I mean I had exchanged emails or phone calls with the site owners and a tentative 'try it and see how it works for you' agreement had been made.
None of them worked, and I never finalized an agreement. However, two sites never removed my ad, and the other company kept sending me 'marketing' lists. I didn't pay much attention, as a) I was swamped with other priorities in the biz, and b) I figured that they had overlooked removing me.
Now, I have these invoices.
My main question is, without an actual contract am I still obligated to pay?
My second question comes from not wanting to screw over other small businesses... they did technically give me the service, I just didn't want it or use it. Legal issues aside, should I just swallow the invoices and chalk it up to being more careful with 'free trial' offers?
Can anyone offer me advice here?
Thanks.

Did the offer continue into a subscription basis if you did not get in contact to tell them you wanted to cancel? Most free trials run on that basis asfaik
