Hi All,

I am currently looking towards getting a Business Angel to help make my business grow financially and help me make decisions. In my searching I came across LincScotland - Scottish Angel Capital Association.

Has anyone ever had any experience of them and their services?
Or does anyone know of any VC or business angels they could recommend?

Thanks for reading my post and any advice.

Thanks,

David

LincScotland are a very reputable source of introduction to Business Angels. I had dealings with them whilst trying to get my business off the ground and they couldnt have been nicer its a soft approach so no hard sell. They like most people only open the door to meet investors so the rest is up to you. I didnt end up taking on their services as i was able to get pull together a finance package without angels so i dont know much beyond the initial contact. Like most things its weighing up the financial risk against to be introduced to investors. I would advise you approach your local business gateway and local authority they may be able to point you in the right direction before outlaying any fees. There are a number of different business angel networks out there that will eat up your cash fast with no results.

Thank you for your reply dr32, your advice will be taken on board.

I have since spoken to my local Business Gateway, but the scale in which I am looking to take the business forward needs about £250k. They seem to be pleased with the Business Plan but explained to me it would be very hard (not impossible) to raise this type of finance from banks (not a surprise) etc, so business angel would be best way forward and their business advice would also be useful to for helping me make future decisions. Just hope that as you explained I don't get robbed of good money by scams to offer me introduction to an investor or have to give away a high percentage of my company to the investor. I will contact LincScotland following on from your good assessment of their services.

Thanks again, and I hope your business is doing well.
