I have recently decided to create an online retail shop, however i have little knowledge of creating a website for this purpose, so i looked online for options to my problem.

The first two sites i came across i looked further into and have become confused on the differences of them, partly due to the large difference in prices.

The 2 sites are newebia.co.uk and ekmpowershop.com (which i know from reading the forums some of you know). Are the different prices based on what they offer the customer i.e. newebia can cost £1800+ where as ekm looks to be £19.99pm for the hosting only, or is it another factor, remebering im not so hot on web design etc.

Also which of the two would be better to use. I dont wish to spend alot of money on a site that could have been done for much less. Any other sites that any of you may have used for this purpose would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give. :D

Are you looking for an all in one solution? I only just browsed the sites, but from what I can tell, they only give you the shopping cart, e-commerce facilities, not an actual site design. It becomes quite confusing, as people refer to it as web design. You generally have 2 different people - one to design it (i.e. make it look good) and another to develop it (i.e. to allow people to buy items etc).

As for the price difference, I'm not really sure as newebia had such annoying music I had to leave.

Just to set the record straight and as a work for Newebia Ltd. the £1800+ is not only complete bespoke development and design of your ecommerce site but hosting on a dedicated server, payment gateway, domain, SSL, email client, marketing client and ecommerce CMS to manage your site. We help with the bank process if you don’t have a merchant account and provide in that price is site SEO and marketing advice. Basically it is everything you need to start selling online, developed and setup and ready for you, all you have to do is fill the shop.

PS Tom, the music is gone.

Hi Sparky300,
Thank you for your explanation. At £1800 it looks like a top-end solution for a time-poor merchant who expects great things from the resulting site. I am looking to build a site which is unlikely to gross £1800, let alone can afford £1800 from the bottom line.
