New business - muffins and cakes!

My wife and I have just launched Lovely Little Cakes Ltd and having just arrived in the UK would like any help or advice about promoting the business both online and through traditional routes.

Having spent the last 15 years on a very small island in the Caribbean we are not fully tuned in to the best methods to promote the business to maximise growth.

We would welcome any thoughts, advice, recommendations on any of the following aspects (or other) whether they be ideas to follow up or people that we can contact to assist further.

SEO
Public relations
Networking groups
Trade fairs or other events to consider

We are based in the North East of England and have just had some great help putting together a website which should now be operational!

I have two clients who do cakes.

Seem to do Ok. A small "inexpensive shop front" seems to work better than spending a fortune and lots of time on advertising and networking

People will always spend money on special occasions for people they care about

That is definitely positive news and reassuring.

We are very ambitious so hopefully we can get into the market and grow. Hopefully the corporate sector will also be an opportunity for us as we see both staff and customer appreciation as a target audience.

Cakes are somewhat of a weak spot with me!
I have to ask, why leave being settled in the Caribbean for the NE?

I've also recently set myself up independently. My website is live and I have had a couple of clients but am spending a lot of my time now networking.

Seriously, there were some good reasons why we decided to leave and it has allowed us to follow some new opportunities.
