Let's face it, 99% of us will sell to anyone who wants to buy! :)

But who do you target mostly? Let see if we can get some cross promotion going on!

My target audience?

Women, 18-40 with a little time on thier hands. :)

What do you actually do, Robert?

My target audience are companies who have a turnover beyond the VAT threshold (normally by a fair bit). My youngest client is late 20's, and (for some reason), nearly all of them are female.

1. Publicans who serve food
2. Anyone who has ever eaten in a pub, or ever considered it
3. Anyone who would like to advertise to either of the above!

A small, start-up business, female (but not single!) looking for 'free' ways to grow her soon-to-start business!

Nope - I disagree. By selling to an inappropriate market, I may disappoint and hence create negative feedback. Depending on your product, of course, it might even be better to refuse some sales than to create a bad impression.

this is very true. i have just turned down an application for membership this morning because i didnt have faith in being able to sell the product.

i would rather turn down the order in the first place than have to give refunds and therefore create a negative response

But remember that Robert sells a product. If I sold 32"+ LCD displays by Panasonic and Sony, and someone wanted to buy one, it wouldn't matter if they bought one from me or another store, they get the product they want. Unless you're aware there's a fault in this product line (although, again, that would be a universal situation), then there's no difference. A service is another matter, where different professions can offer different skills.

But, back to the question in hand.

My target customer is anybody with a standard HTML or php/mysql website that appreciates and demands good and personal service and realises that this costs a minimum of £5 to £10 a month.

Web designers interested in reselling hosting and search engine optimisation reports under their own brand..

Also anyone needing a dedicated server or an email marketing / opt-in email newsletter system.

Hope this helps :)

You're in luck. That's a group I've spent a lot of time learning about. :)

I work with all sorts of businesses, but my favoured demographic is a professional services company (very broadly defined), at least one year old, who are looking to get more clients.

Preferably they've been taken for a ride by a marketing/avertising/PR person in the past who never delivered so they can now appreciate the value of someone who gets results. :)
