Hi Serita

There are a number of diffferent ways to get business grants take a look at The Business Link website, they have a useful grant search section :

http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/gsd?r.li=1075928380&r.l1=1073858790

The Princes Trust are also an excellent organisation who can not only help with funding but also guide you through your business plan and offer advice and support.

How old are you ?

I'm 26 years old. Business is called Miss Intrigue, a lingerie party plan business, idea to have sales girls doing the parties with catalogues & sample kit, selling lingerie and novelty fun stuff. My website www.missintrigue.co.uk is currently being re-designed as I have new products for this year and next. I started working on it 3 years ago whilst working part time too plus I have a 7 year old son. However in December I gave up my part time work and thought it was time I did it seriously and took the risk - no pain no gain right!! However to progress and do the things I need to do is impossible without money.

Thanks for replies!

I was thinking of young entrepeneur schemes and local government grants but I dont think they will fund you as your idea is not original.

Sorry cant be of much help, I think you'll just have to go to the bank here.

Hi Serita....I will try and be a bit more positive...

Try the Princes Trust and local Government grants anyway. Even if they cant help you with funding they will be able to help you with planning and that sort of thing.

They are very approachable so just give them a call and have a chat.

There are 1 million and 1 design agencies out there but we still got a local Government grant when we started up.

Best of luck with it all.

It doesn't have to be an original idea to get a grant. My accountant just got one and accountants aren't original!

As Jacqui said, try business link, they're quite good too if you ring them.

Good luck with your biz.

Jacqui is right about business advice but I work for a Governement Funding Body and due to the nature of your company I doubt very much that financial assistance would be available.

Sorry to be negative, but thats just the way it is.

I wish you the best of luck though, I used to be an Anne Summers rep back in the day and I had such a giggle!

Thank u for all your replies! I know what im up against, i think i will just keep trying tho - We are a little different to Ann Summers, which has been around for a long long time - out with the old and in with the new i say. Miss Intrigues new range will offer products hand made on order plus other items which are that little bit different from the everyday. Thanks again x
