Hi chaps thought I would give people a quick update to let them know how BuytheMap has been going,
Doesnt seem like this type of advertising is dead yet!
120,000hits in 3months, about 10 copycats, £1k in country sales, and great fun been had....
Anyway quite interested to hear if people have any ideas for new features on the site!

Just out of interest are you allowed to buy more than one country?
Thanks,

Hi,
Is 120,000hits in 3months good then? Is that actual people who come to the site or how many times they click on it? I get a bit confused with this stuff and though it was unique visitors that is important.
I'm asking because if hits are good, my site is also doing ok.
Thanks

Hi Jayne,
You can have 10,000 hits, but if you don't make a sale, what's the point? It's the conversion that's the most important!

Oh Right Nigel,
Well in that case, it's doing crap, because I don't have the heart to charge people who want to sell there businesses. So have actually made a total of 0 for my Bowbiz site
I've sold a couple of paintings though, so i'm happy enough.

Jayne,
Just a little rule that has stood me in good stead, but bear in mind its only for the mass market of the internet, and excludes specialist resellers. Your unique visitors, should make up between 5-7% of your hits, and your sale conversion should make up 5-7% of your unique visitors.
Anything above this and you either have a very interesting site, or a great product :)

MMM I get excited by hits because it sounds loads - jus had a look at unique visits, that was 3,500 for April and average about 150 a day - as for percentge of these as sales - (no idea!) Paul China is up to $60 ;)
