Hi,

This isn't actually my core business or anything, and I have a traditional shopping cart for my "real" business, but I am looking for a solution (being non-techy) which would let me sell digital music assets from a website.

Anyone know of any "platforms" that rent this type of service capability that can be integrated with paypal for payment?

Thanks a lot,

Rupert

Hi,

If you are looking to sell music downloads these people I guess are the best ones to approach.

Hi Paresh,

Thanks. Actually I'm looking to sell my music (sad I know) so OD2 is not the right platform. Basically I am looking for an ecommerce hosted solution that allows the selling and distribution of electronic media.

There must be solutions that people use to sell ebooks which I believe is the same principle as to what I am trying to do?

Thanks,

Rupert

There are several digital delivery shopping carts out there that might suit your needs that fully integrate with PayPal. The company I work for just got through helping the following client with their music store.

I wish I could take credit for the design, but this client did all the design work using the built in tools of our shopping cart. You implied that this will be a side business so this might be a more advanced solution than you need. There are a couple of 'free' solutions on the market that might have the functionality you need. I would advise taking a look at the following carts:

'Free' carts:

CubeCart - I've heard some good things about them. I know they support digital delivery, but I'm not sure about the paypal option...

Mal's Ecommerce - A simple solution many small businesses use to get off the ground. I would advise that you take a look if this cart is secure for digital goods. Also, you might want to look into how support is for this product.

Fee based carts:

Modular Merchant - This is the cart I work for. It has flexible design elements, free support, free upgrades, integrated with PayPal, handles digital and mixed media securely. Can be customized to your specifications.

1shoppingcart - This cart can do pretty much what Modular Merchant can do, but can't be customized to your needs. I think they also have free support and upgrades as well.

Whew. I hope this information helps. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific shopping cart related questions. :)
