Hi everyone,

I bought a domain name through a web designer a couple of years ago. They have just sent me an invoice for the payment for a further two years.

I have found that i can purchase a domain like this for a fifth of the price myself. Is there anything i can do to renew the domain myself as it is registered to me?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi

It depends whose name they registered it in.

If they registered it in your name you can request they transfer it to a registrar of your choice - if it's in their name then it's down to how they want to do it as legally they would be the owners.

For .co.uk and .com you should pay no more than £5 per year.

If you want a chat (not a sale schat but a helpful one) feel free to call me on 01892 824019

Often they will charge you to "transfer" the domain, I've seen companies charge up to £49+VAT for this.

Thanks for your comments guys. The domain is registered in my name. Could you define "registrar"? I take it i could not just transfer the domain to myself?
