um..OK, I'll get right on it.

I was thinking about a niche directory for UK webdesigners, and hosts perhaps? seems to be quite a few designers knocking around :?

There's a lot of designers around, but there's a terrible amount of bad and awful designers around. That's what I like about TheOnlineDirectory, about how they try and offer clients only decent designers. Even there, though, they have designers who I wouldn't hire in the directory - although generally it's done a good job.

A directory where the freelancer or company's final products met a stict set of criterior would be a great idea.

I remember a similar thread before, not sure if it was on here or somewhere else.

That ukwda is a waste of time, every tom dick and harry is on it.

Sounds busy!! so it's a money spinner? or is it free to register?

I have opted to go with local golf courses (http://www.ukgolfcourseguide.co.uk) for the moment and have spent a whole 6 hours on it so far  webdesigners does sound like a good option, perhaps with some kind of portfolio required, I get a lot of them submitting to JustOneUK, which is why it sounded interesting.

Is it worth charging to get listed? I have a uk web designers (http://www.j1uk.com/Web_Design/Web_Designers/) category over at my new directory, but it's hardly the same as having an individual site for the subject.

off to check out the UKWDA..............

I think www.118trades.com does this for "trades" obviously.

Something along these lines for a different industry would be good.

Think of another region people are particularly wary of, and create a directory of approved suppliers.
