Hi,
Please accept my apologies if this is a stupid question, but what is the best company to register my domain name with or are they all the same. :?: If it seems I am a little green around the gills it is because I am
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

well we do registrations with no hidden charges
You could really do with keeping all your registrations under 1 roof for ease.
We are just under £5 a domain a year - I have to say I've checked 123reg and 1and1 that for a combination .co.uk and .com we work out cheaper than both companies :)
We're also backed by an international telecommunications company :)
www.register.matrixxhosting.com
There are others around the forums that offer it...
Hope this helps,
Rob

There are thousands of domain name registrars and you can either pay very little or a great deal depending who you choose to go with.
Two large registrars are one&one: www.1&1.co.uk and ww.123-reg.co.uk
You can get .co.uk domains for £1.99 per year and £2.59 per year respectively.
Hope this helps

I would second http://www.123-reg.co.uk - I am sure that the other forum members that offer this service are possibly even better but I have no direct experience with them.
Never found any hidden charges with them and when there have been problems (all of which have been caused by my error - using my company credit card to buy a personal domain etc) they have been fixed within the hour.

I second Matrixx, just to make things all even. ;)
You'll get the support, features and guarantees that you can host with any company you want, although Matrixx are top notch for that too.

Hi,
avoid one&one.co.uk have heard of many bad experiences, if its.co.uk you want, then 123-reg.co.uk, otherwise
http://reg.urlportfolio.com, for cheap flexible registrations in your name! ;-)

Wise move, Lorraine. You can now join the secret UKBF society, where we ritually praise people for signing up to our services. It is not uncommon to sit around in our dressing gowns drinking wine in gold cups.

Hi Tom,
Does sitting around in my dressing gown drinking tea count??? Have to save to wine until later as can't leave my 18 month old to her own devices.......

Oh, alright. I'll let this one pass. After all, you can't have been introduced to the new welcoming ritual that involves some butter, 1kg of lard, handcuffs and Matrixx dancing around wearing sandals and carrying a mace.

The Matrixx part often takes place, but we don't like to talk about that in public. Besides, that's just the intro. Won't want to spoil the ending. See you there tonight, at a quarter past midnight. ;)
