Just finished building a site using osCommerce and I would appreciate some feedback if that's possible -

http://perfectlypureskincare.com

It was designed to be simple and not to look like osCommerce, at least not at first glance!!

If anyone's interested this was my first crack with osCommerce and it took about 4 weeks to develop. I found the basic intallation very easy to modify especially with all the support that's available. The code was well commented and there wasn't anything that I got particularly stuck with.

There's a few things I'd like to do, especially in getting some nice keyword-rich content and headings on the homepage, and the logo could do with some improvement, too. As always, I just need to convince the client.

Cheers,
Jon.

Flipping eck. An osCommerce site that doesn't look like all the others.

Good work. You've effectively built the kind of site I love. Clean, clear, very professional looking. The white background and text go together excellently and it's easy to navigate.

Well done!

My God!

What a great site! I couldn't tell it was oscommerce at first, second or third glance!

I agree with Mattk that it looks very clean and very professional.

Well done so far and good luck with it! :D

Bye

Thanks for the comments!! Your're very kind. I posted a link on the osCommerce new store forum and all I got was critism!!

One thing I can't fathom,

http://www.perfectlypureskincare.com

- has a page rank of 0, as expected but when I drop the "www." Google gives it a PageRank of 7!! Not sure what's going on here but I hope my homepage inherits some of this PageRank.

Cheers.

I'd be interested in hearing what they had to say.

Most osCommerce sites look like carbon copies with different background colours. I reckon they are just jealous.

Damn, that's a nice page rank!

Site loosk grreat also. I notice you've kind of dealt with the quesrystring issue too. Turn of the osCommerce session id and put in a sie ma (linke dto from the bottom of every page) and you're flying.

You may also want to play around with mod-rewrite so www. gets 301's to the URL without the www.

Good work, give yourself a pat on the back : )

Gonna ruin the trend here. It looks fine for an OSCommerce site, but I don't see anything special about the design and wouldn't put my name on it. Yet, if the aim was to make it non-OSCommerce-like, then you've achieved it.

Yes you did! (Only messin) and Yes it does!
but I don't see anything special about the design
The front could do with more work for sure, such as special offers, featured products and prices etc..
But the foundations have been layed and some of the good stuff hidden in the back pages needs to be brought forward to create an eyecatching and tempting front page.
Yet, if the aim was to make it non-OSCommerce-like, then you've achieved it.
Defo! The site can only get better!

Paresh :D

PS: wouldn't put my name on it. You could couldn't you? If you hijacked the page or whatever you call it!

Google was showing 1200 links to your
http://perfectlypureskincare.com url and none to
http://www.perfectlypureskincare.com hence the page rank at 3pm today. It's now showing some 1550 links so I'm not sure the data I'm seeing is actually correct, I suppose time will tell.

Only had a quick look at a handful of sites Google says are linking to you but couldn't find any such links actually exist. Take a look for yourself, you'll see reported links from some really odd sites and if you don't find any actual links then maybe Google's got it's wires crossed.

It is a nice site, very clean and clear.

I agree with the lack of products, special offers and visuals on the home page - but that being said I think there is just enough to make the visitor venture further to see your products (all important).

With a new site it is important to entice visitors to purchase (e.g. special offers, discounts for first purchase etc...) this way you build trust in your business when customers products are delivered - and you can use their email for future contact for repeat business.

It's great to see an OsCommerce site with a little individuality!

Cheers mate, jobs a good 'un. I only managed to break the site for 10 mins.

I'll have a look at that session id. Won't that break the user login process, though?

It's Friday, need beer.
