View Full Version : Critique My Logo

I'm in the process of creating my sports nutrition brand and would like your views on some logos currently in development.

http://www.refreshious.com/

The colours may be changing (maybe darker) and am thinking of changing the bottom tag line to "Make A Difference"

What do you think?

Hi Ref.
I'd use No. 1, but I'd remove two of the horizontal lines as I feel it 'distorts and obliterates the image too much. Sweet and Simple!

'Make a difference' is a very common tag line, especially amongst 'care' agencies and charities. Got anything else?
Cheers, Nigel

I'll think I'm gonna stick with the tag "The Shape of Things to Come"

It puts me in mind of the Lucozade Sport logo - so you'd have a potential trademark infringement on your hands...

Smithkline Beecham are a BIG company, so my professional advice would be - 'don't even go there!

Hi

Are you talking about the colour? Because I am thinking of getting them to add darker colours. I don't think the running man is anything like lucozade sport as the initial concept came from this: http://www.kinster.eclipse.co.uk/index2.html

I also have the one with the arm to consider

That may be but the IP lawyers might not see it that way. It's not the individual elements but the overall 'look and feel' of the logo that might confuse...

Just an opinion. :)

Is the lucozade sport logo a registered trademark?

so you would choose the one with the arm? I'm still considering dark blues

I'm afraid that doesn't make any difference.

I'm not saying don't use your existing design - just be mindful. :)

i don't think it's like the lucozade one at all, different font, colour and design... that would be like saying this is the McDonalds logo > M

;) McDonalds would probably sue if that were used as a logo for a burger bar.

I have to say it did immediately remind me of another brand but I couldnt remember which one. I have little knowledge of IP law but it would ring alarm bells to me.

That said and done I think the running man logo is much better than the arm one - personally (not being very sporty anyway) the word "refresh" and sports nutrition dont immediately associate to me.

I agree with Eagle here, it does remind me of that Lucozade logo and it could be a potential problem for you further down the road.

I don't like the arm one, and I don't think you should use the running man one. It is very similar with the placement of the man, his shape, his direction, and the "woosh stripes". I'd start from scratch.

okay, will get them to look into it. Some of the colours in the examples I posted were too much lucozade sport.

What if before I posted the latest updates it was like this with a running man. I know it's difficult but would you think the same?

Good work, yes I like it, if I was the next Haribo I would take that off you :)

I'm aiming at sports people, so I'm seeing what the designer can do for me... He has a lot of great ideas and many I have not posted, but it's difficult choosing one. Can't please everybody though :(

I liked your first one. It was a sporty logo. Thing about lucozade is though they haven't patented every single running man image and how many different ways is there to show a running man. If you feel uneasy about it just sent them an e-mail asking if they have any objections about you using it.

Cheers

I know what you mean. The designer has assured me of this. The running man is still one of the choices, but may use a red and orange instead.

Your post sounded like you didn't aim to be as big as Haribo - actually I think the product is a good one and could easily (with the right marketing) be up there with the big people - (although I think Haribo are sweets and you're not a sweet co)

I have to agree that's pretty awesome. It just suggests juicy, something with water, full of flavour, can be enjoyed by all ages etc.

This is going to sound stupid but thats the only time a logo has made my mouth water!!!

Hi

How much do you charge for logos again? What development stages do you go through?

Eagle
22nd March 2006, 16:08
I'll email you shortly. :)

The logo there was just a quick 20 minute 'rough' aimed at demonstrating the need to put forward the notion of nutrition and something tasty!.

One thing I won't do however is tread on the toes of your existing designer (ethics n' all that!). If you decide to go ahead with my services, I'd want you to do the decent thing and either pay them or part company honestly and amicably. :)

Eagle, I hope you don't mind me saying and take it the right way I think that Logo is a lot better than some of the stuff on your portfolio page.

It is very refreshing to say the least. Have to agree that it made my mouth water!

Aesthetically, yes, it's very vibrant.

It all depends on the market a logo is aimed at however... :)

Just a quick one, the logo you design for Organ Broker, are they what I think they are???

Eagle
22nd March 2006, 16:42
I think their idea never took off. Which is a shame...

What do you think they were?... :)

dcraigdc
22nd March 2006, 16:48
I always thought this was an organ broker...

"A poor man is desperate to make money to feed his family in an undeveloped country. A rich man is sick and needs a kidney transplant in order to survive. He is willing to pay whatever it takes to save his life. A man acts as a middleman, or broker, between the two men and goes home with a profit of thousands of pounds. Organ brokers are most common for organizing kidney transplants and other non-essential organs. However, occasionally organ brokers will bribe the family of a deceased for essential organs such as heart and liver."

Either that or the guy was planning to sell church equipment... :D

Eagle
22nd March 2006, 17:00
As I understood the brief, the site was intended for the global, coordinated search/matching of transplant donors and patients. No money changing hands; all good stuff. :)

I'm just gob-smacked it never took off. :(

Oh so no money changing at all? Yeah that sucks that sounds like an excellent idea then.

Well, there's no copyright on ideas... ;)

dcraigdc

Good point! All I need now is a surgeon and a medical lorry :D.

I would have thought that the logistics of something like that would be quite difficult. If I had the money (and lets face it, the business knowledge) to do something like that I probably would. It sounds like a really interesting project. Number 760 to put on the ideas list then :D

puravida
22nd March 2006, 19:03
My fave is your original concept one - the green and red.
Easiest to read too.

I don't like the arm one as it stands as you can;t really tell what is going on, but you could evolve the idea further perhaps

Sorry - I just read the WHOLE thread. (doh!)

The Eagle logo ROCKS.

I'm down the gym every single day pretty much and I also have a business selling sports goods too so I know the market you will be aiming at pretty well.

That logo stands out a mile from anything out there and adds a much needed fun and funky quality.

Strong branding and marketing is 95% of the battle.

Do a deal with Eagle, get your site live, then go forth and multiply!!!

The current designers have been doing a great job and are doing my packaging for me also, so will most definitely pay them.

My missus and her business partner require a new logo in future so am looking at good places for them.
