Hi all
I am looking a buying a pub/restaurant and I am looking at getting a
business plan done to help me with get finance and to get the breweries
backing to lease the premises to me.
I am looking for accountants or somebody who could assist with the creation of a professional business plan so I can make sure I have a sound business idea and plan to put forward to the brewery and the banks.
If you are able to let me know what you would charge for assisting in the creation of this plan
I would much appreciate it.
Kind regards
Winston

I am currently a business mentor with the NWDA.
One of the services I offer on a voluntary basis via the NWDA scheme is business planning and cash flow forecasting.
Where abouts in the country are you? Try your local regional development agency.

Will PM you, but CIMA accountants (of which I am one) are professional accountants with a specific interest in business. We specialise in cash flows and investment decisions etc...

Afternoon Winston,
I would certainly be able to assist you in creating a plan.
A couple of years ago I was working with a very large national brewery business within their accounts department; I certainly picked up the flavour of what they were looking for from their pubs and restaurants (if you pardon the pun).
Because the pub/restaurant is a people centric business a lot of focus within your plan will be about target audiance, service offering, niche, competitor postioning and of course your own experience. The numbers side will follow in due course; it's footfall and spend per head that will drive your plan to a successful outcome.
Call me or drop me a line and we can have a chat through the issues.
Regards
Mike

Hi - strange comment; but why not try and do the plan yourself? If you don't full understand the numbers and figures, you could be committing yourself to something that may not work. You need to know the figures inside out.

If you wanted to try and write your own plan I would recommend Bplan software - see website here (http://www.paloalto.co.uk/?affiliate=taxpartnership). They also do free sample business plans which may give you an idea of how to write your own - see here (http://www.bplans.co.uk/restaurant_cafe_and_bakery_business_plan_templates .cfm).

Winston,
I agree with Coultog in that business owners should try to write their own business plan and then get it reviewed professionally. If you want a quick start I recently posted a 'Top 10 tips for business plans' on another online site and it went down very well. I will post it on this site when I can attach my own website details but in the meantime can send to you if you want it.
Admor Business Solutions offers an objective review of business plans after they have been produced by the owner and before presentation to the bank. Saves money / wasted effort and improves the chances of success.
I have extensive experience at a senior level in banking where I reviewed plans that customers / accountants submitted and the quality was not great so decisions reflected this. I am also a CIMA accountant.
Sure you can let me know if you want the Top 10 Tips.

Yes, thanks for the info because I thought that a Business plan is something you can do it just by yourself.... but know I know I can pay somebody else to do it for me :)

Forget it Winston as far as raising finance is concerned. Pubs are going bust at the rate of 500 a week and it seems that you haven't a clue what the business is about.
I do I have owned wine bars and pubs so let me mark your card.
If you really do want to run a pub. You can actually get one free with the right biz plan put together by someone that knows the biz. In fact I got my last pub free even though it was advertised by the pubco for over £75,000 for the lease.
I also got about £5K of stock from the outgoing licencee who was grateful for my taking over the lease.
Be warned however. Even if you got zero premium on ingoing you will still need around £20K cash from your own resources as a brewery deposit against rent & stock which you will no doubt be shafted for when you go bust in 6 months to a years time.
Stop dreaming of playing mine host then and look at the facts.
