Hi all,

I run (not very well!) a limited company which consists of 1 employee and myself. We currently are bringing in money each month but only enough to pay the bills and the wages. The problem is that we have fell behind this year on our PAYE and our NI contributions.

Currently i am considering going back down the self employed route as i am great at doing my job but the paperwork and business side i am misserable at and i am running it into the ground. The biggest problem being my lack of knowledge and the lack of money coming in to pay an accountant to do it for me.

Is it possible for the company to be dissolved and what will hapen to the HMRC debts (£5000 aprox) if i go down this route. Will the HMRC be in contact with me for this debt? Also if this is possible do i voluntarilly apply for strike off or do i just wait for it to happen?

The companys only aset is a van which is not worth much and the company has no other debts.

All of your advice would be greatly received

Thanks

ryan

A good accountant should be able to save you their fee many times over. Going self employed will mean you suffer Class 2 and 4 NI. That saving alone may pay for the accountant.
