WELCOME a newborn baby into the world with a heavenly present from The Angel Gift Company.

The online company has been set up by Jillian Smith, a mum from Chorley in Lancashire, who was disappointed at the poor range of unique baby gifts on offer.

The former IT consultant came up with the idea of selling delicately-wrapped gifts in their own handcrafted white baby keepsake box at affordable prices.

“The boxes which my gifts come presented in are designed to be part of the gift itself and are perfect for storing those new baby cards and precious first mementoes,” said Jillian, mum to Lauren, 2, and Evie, nine months.

Each baby gift box contents comes in a choice of three colours; pink, blue or cream, and there are boxes containing different items depending on the budget.

“I wanted to have a gift in my range which was affordable. Quite a lot of the gift sites I have visited only really start at around the £30 mark which often is more than people want to pay for a small gift.

“My smallest box is priced at £19 which I believe is fantastic value for the quality of product,” said Jill, who handcrafts the motifs on the front of the boxes herself.

The smallest box is lined in baby pink, blue or cream and the lid is decorated with a motif. It contains: “My First Teddy” soft bear in pink with matching pink satin bow around its neck and 100% cotton pink cellular pram blanket hand tied with matching pink gingham ribbon

An £85 keepsake box contains: a soft and cuddly vintage pooh bear, 100% wool spotty pram blanket in pink, hand made soft leather shoes with pink butterfly design (0-3 months) and 100% cotton pink luxurious romper suit (size newborn).

Inside each keepsake box, gifts are wrapped in tissue paper and hand tied with a matching ribbon and the white baby keepsake boxes are beautifully lined with a paper which co-ordinates with the baby gift selected (either pink, blue or cream).

“We understand how very precious the arrival of a new baby is which is why we have carefully chosen all our products to be the perfect gift for any new arrival,” said Jillian.

Those who buy a box can also choose to include a handwritten personalised message with a special gift for those friends or family who don’t live nearby.

The site looks beautiful.

The offerings look very attractive - which must be half the battle.

Also the site is really simple and clear with great quality of information.

I think your about us page is not very engaging and a picture of you, Mum, with baby opening one of your boxes would be more attractive. Tell your story with a bit more passion. Get people interested in who you are - people buy from people. At the moment it reads like every other about us page I have read and lets you down.

edit to say I was thinking about this business and googled baby gift boxes.

Ouch. There are a lot of them out there and I would say that many of them are cheaper and fillied with just as attractive stuff.

Yours certainly looks distinctive but I reckon you may have to rethink the prices and contents to truly compete in this market.

For instance £85 for your top box which appears to contain about £40 worth of stuff.
